I made a timeline. It’s called A Brief History of Lani & Music π
I’ve been participating in WP’s Discover Prompts for April and they’ve allowed me to dig in and get creative. Even though I’ve already shared music with PAIRS on Day 9, I knew I wanted to try to create a timeline, a twist on the theme of my relationship with music. Hope you enjoyed! It’s not too late to join.
I LOVE this timeline! I also stopped playing piano, after 12 years of it! But recently started picking it back up again, so there’s hope for you yet – especially while we can’t go anywhere! Have you found any good pick-me-up songs for this strange time?

It’s that funny? Yeah, I’m kind of amazed when I think about playing all those years but I’m hoping when I do play again, some deep memory will awaken. Who knows? We move too much to start, but a keyboard is in my future, for sure.
I have a few YT playlists you might want to check out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM8uQk5UG4o1mKIhfHrmWiQ/playlists
Vol 1 is the more modern music π Cheers!

I love this mini memoir–fantastic! I hope you take up the piano again, too. So wish I played–anything!

I love your timeline; infographics are so cool. I keep looking at the guitar in the corner and thinking I should start learning again, but there are always so many other things to spend time on.

Thanks, Su. Sorry I missed your comment. I’ve been having problems with mine not showing up in my notifications lately.
A guitar! Yes, why not? π

The timeline is fantastic, sharing information with humour and I love how taste in music shifts to its own rhythm π

Thanks π As much as I love rock, I’m glad that my musical tastes expanded.

Variety is definitely the best with music. I know when I shuffle my songs I’m often surprised at the diverse genres and artists that appear π

Great graphic and post idea Lani. Purple rain was about my first purchase on tape- must have been around 11. Think it came out in 86 didnβt it…Iβd like to make something similar but it might take some time

You should! I had to exclude some things for the sake of brevity. I’d imagine for a musician like you that might be hard to do.
Now I’m thinking there could be all sorts of timelines to do!

Yeah brevity….hmmm. Guess it could be done! What software did you use for the graphic? Looks cool.

I used Canva π

Would you recommend it? I like making quick graphics like the cool timeline you uploaded, and even bought Affinity designer for the ipad but itβs massively deep software that I havenβt really tried to grapple with. Templates suit me just fine.

I use their free stuff, but I find it easy to use. One of these days, I should pay because they really have so much to offer and I use them a lot.

Oh…thought it would be a paid subscription like most stuff these days. Iβll have a closer look. Cheers

It looks so neat. I have a feeling that every Asian has some history with piano lessons.

Such a cool timeline, Lani! I really hope you’ll pick up the piano again, I did so last year after 10 years of abstinence. Admittedly I play a bit less now then a couple of months ago but it’s there and I now know that getting back is easy. Muscle memory is awesome!! π Ugh – I had a boyfriend once with awful music taste which is maybe even worth than no interest in music at all? Anyhow, I call them my lost years…π
